Yoga Benefits

In all of my yoga classes, except pregnancy yoga classes, we work with the following movements and postures. 

Seated Movements

  • Loosen the Body 
  • Release tension
  • Tone the abdomen
  • Calm the nervous system
  • Counter stress

Back Bends

  • Warm and invigorate the body
  • Strengthen weak back muscles 
  • Counter ill effects of bad posture
  • Develop healthy breathing

Twists and Abdominal Postures

  • Encourages healthy digestion
  • Promote good posture
  • Protect against lower back pain
  • Combat tiredness

Arm Balances

  • Develop self sufficiency
  • Encourage confidence
  • Increase stamina
  • Bolster upper body strength
  • Reduce neck and shoulder tension


  • Boost the immune system
  • Help balance hormones
  • Lessens tiredness
  • Develop concentration

Meditation and Relaxation

  • A period of rest and relaxation which enables the body to digest the yoga practise to feel its full benefits.

When all of the above is practiced on a regular basis, even only for five minutes a day, the mind and body is then strong enough to enjoy the benefits of meditation and relaxation.
